The Worship Committee strives to make the worship experience at Oak Hill meaningful and enjoyable by attending to many "behind the scenes" tasks. Among many other things, the Worship Committee:
The Worship Committee strives to make the worship experience at Oak Hill meaningful and enjoyable by attending to many "behind the scenes" tasks. Among many other things, the Worship Committee:
- Provides, prepares, and sets-up all Communion elements each month and for special services throughout the year,
- Accounts for all candles used for worship services, special services, and weddings,
- Orders and arranges special flowers and decorations for the sanctuary for church holidays, including Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, and Necrology. This includes the “hanging of the greens” for Christmas, and preparing for Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Lent, Maundy Thursday and Easter services,
- Arranges for members of the congregation to light the Advent Wreath and to place items on the Lenten Cross,
- Changes the paraments and banners to align with the liturgical calendar,
- Coordinates the music of the church,
- Works with Session on plans and policies for services and related events
